Casco Bay C.A.N. Coalition - Create Awareness Now to Reduce Youth Substance Abuse
As part of SAMHSA's Drug Free Communities Coalition Mentoring Program, 21 Reasons worked closely with the Casco Bay community between 2008-2010. Over two years, we assisted the Casco Bay C.A.N. coalition to build strong membership, conduct a community assessment and strategic plan, and apply for their own 5-year Drug Free Communities grant.
Today, Casco Bay C.A.N. (Create Awareness Now) has their own DFC funding, staff support, and office in the Casco Bay community, with fiscal management provided by the County of Cumberland.
Casco Bay C.A.N. serves the towns of Falmouth, Cumberland, North Yarmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport & Pownal, and is made up of representatives from schools, law enforcement, parent groups, youth organizations, treatment agencies, and many other concerned community members.
