21 Reasons is primarily concerned with changing the environment that is around youth. After all, it is adults who control alcohol, and adults who create our general culture and attitudes about underage drinking. So while all of our work is focused on the well-being of young people, very little of our work is actually directed at youth. However, we do strive to include youth as partners in our efforts.
Did you know that most teens actually choose not to drink? Check out the links below!
21 Reasons is offering assistance for classrooms and youth organizations who are interested in utilizing our new tool, Straight Up: A Youth Activity Guide to Prevent Underage Drinking.
Straight Up has easy-to-use activities that help youth address the environmental factors that contribute to underage drinking—such as adult attitudes, alcohol availability, and advertising. The guide suggests projects varying in length from 45 minutes to one month and activities in worksheet format.
The activities in Straight Up aim to engage youth in creating permanent community change, rather than focusing on changing youth behavior. The guide is now available in hard copy; please contact 21 Reasons if you are interested in a copy. A sample chapter and table of contents are available for preview.
